I have spent the last four years learning about not only what my program intends for me to walk away with, but more about myself, what my education means to me, and what I can bring to the market once I graduate this spring. Spending the last four years on campus has made me reflect on my time, and what it means to be a student, and what I want my future to hold.  The skills that I have gained from being in this program have, and will help me try and achieve my career goals once I leave TRU. My goal is to work in the field of Public Relations (PR), Communication, Social Media, with an emphasis on sport media or sports broadcasting.I would also love to work in communications or public relations whether that be with a brand, or a larger firm. With my long term dream working in NHL or PWHL, either in media, communications or PR.

During my time at TRU, I have made, and or cultivated how the institutional learning outcomes have progressed me through the duration of my studies. After many conversations and much thought, the ILO that resonates the most with me during my time of study would have to be connection. Connection has brought together many of the things I have learned in my time in post-secondary education. Moreover, it also has enhanced my life beyond the classroom. I further believe that most, if not all of the ILOs have impacted me on my journey at TRU. Although I have an emphasis on connection, that doesn’t take away from what the other Learning Outcomes have taught me. I found that I have been exposed to all of the ILOs here at TRU, and have been able to not only enhance my learning, but have been able to help me through my personal endeavors as well.

One word to sum up my time at TRU would be resilience. I chose this word as I found that I have been resilient through many times of hardship and adversity in the duration of my post-secondary education. An example of this would be deciding to leave my retail career right in the middle of peak holiday season, to a quiet desk job, right as my last semester of university begins. Whereas this might not spark as big for someone else, leaving something you’ve known after six years for something completely different, in an already busy time of your life, is something that I am proud of.

I am grateful to the people who have helped shape and carry me through the last 5 years at TRU, these are the people that have seen and heard it all. To my family, friends, colleagues, professors, and so many other people that have stood in my corner for so long, this is for you. To my Aunt Julie, this is really for you, I love you, and I miss you dearly.

I thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio, and I look forward to receiving your feedback.
